Asidua celebrates multi-million pound contract with Fujitsu
31st March 2006
Belfast, Northern Ireland [March 31, 2006]: Belfast-based Asidua Ltd has today announced a multi-million pound contract with Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited. The contract will see Asidua working with Fujitsu through to 2010, involving the design and development of the next generation software for Fujitsu’s award-winning broadband access products.
Commenting on the contract award, Steve Brankin, CEO of Asidua said “I am delighted to announce this new contract. Over the last three years, our relationship with Fujitsu has seen the results of our efforts implemented in a substantial part of the UK telecommunications market. Today over 4 million broadband connections have been deployed into UK telecommunications networks by Fujitsu. This new contract reaffirms Asidua’s competence in embedded systems as it continues to build on their success in developing leading edge technology to meet the next generation of telecom needs.
”The contract, which is estimated to be worth more than £1M in the first year alone, has resulted in Asidua hiring additional full time staff and subcontractors. The bulk of the five year deal, Asidua’s longest contract to date, is being carried out at their offices in Belfast City Centre, with a small proportion being carried out in Fujitsu’s Birmingham headquarters.
Eddie Millsopp, Chief Technology Officer of Asidua’s Device Services Division added, “Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe is a market leader in its sector, and as such must meet the rapidly changing demands of today’s telecom operators. The extensive knowledge and experience that Asidua’s Device Services Division has of the technology and standards used within this sector equip us to collaborate with Fujitsu to fulfil customer demands, such as higher data rates and increased flexibility.”
Speaking of the contract award, Andy Stevenson, CEO of Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited said “I am extremely pleased to have agreed this landmark contract with Asidua. Our business is based on providing innovative products to our customers in a timely and cost effective manner. Relationships with companies such as Asidua represent an important part of our overall strategy of using highly scaleable industry expertise to address the challenge of an increasingly dynamic telecoms market.”
