Asidua presents 2004 Excellence prizes at University of Ulster, Coleraine
12th March 2004
Coleraine, Northern Ireland [March 12, 2004]: Rachael Tuaim and David Kelly were this year's deserving recipients of the Asidua Prizes for the University Ulster MSc Telecommunications course. The presentation ceremony was conducted in University of Ulster, Coleraine campus on Friday 3rd December. Rachael was awarded the prize for 'Best Overall Student' and David won the prize for 'Best Masters Project'.
David's project, which was concerned with network management strategies to discover and correct faults within routers in a network, was the only project in the year to achieve distinction level. His project specifically investigated the use of software agents which could work autonomously on this task in a heterogeneous multi-vendor environment in a way that would minimise disruption to the service.
Rachael won the prize for 'Best Overall Student', for achieving the best average across all the course modules. Indeed she was the only student to achieve distinction level as an average across the entire course, also gaining this level individually in five of the eight modules. She has since joined the company and has become an invaluable member of the Asidua team.
This is indicative of the ongoing close relationship with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ulster. Professor Gerard Parr, Chair of Telecommunications Engineering, recently commented that he was delighted at the linkage between the university and Asidua, a forward-looking company at the forefront of technical innovation in the telecommunications industry. "I have a long standing relationship with Asidua and I want to develop our collaboration further in the years ahead".
