Leading IT and telecom integration specialists Asidua, extended their support to local universities by supporting the recent University of Ulster School of Computing and Intelligent Systems’ Awards.
Held in the celebrated surroundings of the Magee campus, the University of Ulster School of Computer and Intelligent Systems awards, which are now a permanent fixture in the university’s calendar, celebrate the achievements of local IT students for their outstanding performances throughout the 2009/10 academic year.
From the eleven awards presented, the global IT services company were pleased to support two categories – The Asidua Embedded Systems Prize & The Asidua Second Year Computer Science Student.
Calvin Olphert, a recent graduate in BEng Hons Electronics and Computer Systems received The Asidua Embedded Systems Prize, while fellow award winner Christopher Bryson, who is currently on placement with Asidua, picked up the coveted Asidua Second Year Computer Science Student Award, following his outstanding performance in the second year of his BSc Computer Science Course.
Asidua’s Chief Operations Officer, Angela Canavan, who was present during the award ceremony commented: “As a leading IT services company, Asidua is delighted to once again support The University of Ulster School of Computing and Intelligent Systems Awards.” Angela continued: “Following the extremely high standard of entrants this year, we would like to congratulate both Calvin and Christopher on this fantastic achievement.” Angela went on to conclude on the day’s proceedings: “This year’s University of Ulster awards helps underpin our belief that Northern Ireland’s IT students are and will continue to remain at the forefront of the global IT market.”

The School is based entirely at the Magee Campus of the University of Ulster, and has a focus on teaching and research in computer and electronic systems. The School was formed in 2001 following the merger on the Magee Campus of the two former Faculties of Informatics and Engineering and the Built Environment.
