Asidua recognised by NCWE as a highly commended employer for student internships

4th April 2011

Building on their recent successes, data integration and telecom specialists Asidua, has been recognised by the NCWE (National Council for Work Experience) as a highly commended employer for student internships.

The NCWE Awards, which are now in their eighth year, recognise businesses from all sectors and sizes that provide exceptional student internships across nine categories.  This year over 200 companies, careers advisors and students were entered.

The Apprentice finalist, Ruth Badger presented this year’s NCWE Awards at a ceremony at Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London.  Asidua, who were shortlisted for the second successive year, beat off five other entrants to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ award in the category for companies with 10-250 employees.

Asidua Chief Operations Officer, Angela Canavan was delighted for the company’s latest success: “So far 2011 has been a successful year for Asidua and are thrilled that our student internship programme has been recognised by the NCWE.”

Angela continued: “We put a lot of time and resources into ensuring our scheme is a success both for the business and the student, so it’s a fantastic achievement to be honoured in what was a competitive category.”

Commenting on Asidua’s achievement, Mike Hill, Chief Executive of the Higher Education Careers Services Unit, which operates the NCWE said: “The emphasis on work experience has never been more prevalent and employers are increasingly valuing work experience in terms of the business benefits and the personal and academic development of the student.”

“Asidua demonstrated a successful and popular scheme, providing interns with a challenging and varied experience as well as an opportunity to work with some of the latest and emerging technologies,” concluded Mike.

The winners were judged by a panel of senior professionals who represent the full internship process, including those from Rolls Royce and Liverpool John Moores University.

This year’s sponsors include AGR, GlaxoSmithKline, CRCC Asia and Centrica.
