Asidua raise the bar once more!

Global IT services company Asidua, have raised the bar once more by becoming the first employer to be shortlisted twice for the University of Ulster Placement Employers of the Year Awards.

Now entering their third year, the University of Ulster Placement Employer of the Year Awards recognise local employers’ contributions to student employability through Work-Based and Placement Learning. 

During the inaugural University of Ulster awards in 2009, Asidua were crowned the Placement Employer of the Year, beating off stiff competition from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Intel. 

Following the receipt of over 190 applications from employers throughout the UK, the 2011 awards sees the Belfast based data and IT specialists being shortlisted once again in the “Employer Self Nominations (over 50 employees)” alongside debutant finalists BTW Sheills, Allstate and Extern. 

The winners of the University of Ulster Placement Employer of the Year Awards for 2011 are set to be announced at a black tie award ceremony on Thursday the 5th May in the Loughview suite of the University of Ulster Jordanstown campus.

“Asidua are thrilled and honoured to be the first employer to be shortlisted twice for the University of Ulster Placement Employer of the Year,” said Asidua Chief Operations Officer, Angela Canavan. 

“Since becoming the first Placement Employer of the year in 2009, Asidua has continued to make significant strides, both in terms of our business operations and also in our work-based and placement learning programmes.  This year, in cooperation with the University of Ulster, we expanded our already successful Asidua Scholarship Programme with the placement of five new scholars, which is our highest number of yearly entrants to the programme.” 

Angela continued: “We have also been able to strengthen our on-going relationship with the University of Ulster with our sponsorship of a number of faculty awards and also through the provision of a large number of placement opportunities for our local students.” 

“While we face stiff competition from fellow finalists BTW Sheills, Allstate and Extern, we hope to build on our second shortlisting and so raise the bar further by becoming the first employer to win the University of Ulster Placement employer of the year on two separate occasions!” concluded Angela.
