Asidua host BITC ‘Opening Doors’ event

20th March 2009

Leading Belfast IT Services company, Asidua hosted an Opening Doors event on Friday 20th March 2009 for Business in the Community.  The purpose of the BITC Opening Doors series is to enable member companies to share their best practice approaches in an informal environment, onsite at the company hosting the event.

Asidua’s event focused on the innovative approach to Health and Wellbeing by Asidua, which resulted in a Highly Commended Award as part of BitC’s 2008 Annual Awards; and the prize for Innovative Health and Wellbeing in the 2007 Employer of Choice Awards.

During the event, Angela Canavan, Chief Operations Officer outlined our Health and Wellbeing Strategy to attendees, making them aware of its importance for Asidua.  Angela focused on Asidua’s Company Values which places people at the heart of what we do, hence the health and wellbeing of employees being of paramount importance to Asidua.

Andy McGuigan, Principal Engineer, discussed how Asidua’s approach enabled him to have an effective work/life balance.  Key to Andy’s message was the critical role that Line Managers play in implementing company policy and procedure.

This message was reinforced by Nicola Shaw, HR Manager, who reiterated that the consistent and fair application and understanding of policies by Line Managers was key to effective implementation.  Nicola also outlined how Asidua’s culture and effective communication enable strategy and policy to be implemented successfully.

The 2 hour session was well-received by BitC members from a range of sectors - both public and private.  Sandra Condron, Campaign Manager for Business Action on Health in BitC said, “I would like to thank Asidua for hosting our recent Business Action on Health Opening Doors event. All our feedback from the event has been extremely positive and was in no small part helped by the great facilities and presentations provided by Asidua.”  Sandra concluded, “Once again, I would like to thank Asidua for both their personal and organisation contribution in supporting the work of Business Action on Health campaign.”
