Consultancy & Board Bring-up for ATM Board
Client: Major Telecoms Equipment Manufacturer
One of the top three telecommunications equipment manufacturers in the mobile systems sector engaged Asidua to provide in-depth technical consultancy & bring-up expertise for a Wintegra WinPath based hardware and software development. Their new product, which was an exchange terminal board designed to support interworking of ATM (AAL2/AAL5) and Ethernet, is to be deployed as a sub-component of a radio base station solution capable of supporting 2, 3 and 4G mobile communications standards.
Legacy Network Migration Architecture
Client: Virtual Access
Virtual Access, a leading supplier of managed network solutions, has developed an architecture for migration of legacy networks (X25, BiSync, etc) to next-generation network (NGN) topologies. Asidua’s Device Services Division played a key role in the development of the X.25 migration solution. Deploying our Embedded Telecoms Integration offering, Asidua set about drawing up a specification for presenting X.25 interfaces at the customer premises using ADSL as the connection to the central office.
G.SHDSL Line Card Software
Client: Major Telecoms Device Manufacturer
Asidua is a strategic partner for the specification, design, implementation and validation of all realtime embedded software for major telecom vendor’s Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) portfolio.This client is a key supplier in the access domain, providing solutions to link BT’s existing access network to the 21CN core IP-based network. The client’s DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), multiple services can be delivered simultaneously, from fast Internet access and video-on-demand, to voice telephony using VoIP. The multi-service capability of the DSLAM supports both ADSL and G.SHDSL technology, offering this to many thousands of users on a single ATM/Ethernet network interface.
E1 TDM/ATM Interworking in the Access Network
Client: Major Telecoms Equipment Manufacturer
A major telecoms equipment manufacturer re-engaged Asidua following successful development and deployment of an SNMP Agent on the manufacturer’s ATM Switch Fabric card. The remit was to design and develop the software for a new card that would offer E1 TDM/ATM interworking and traffic consolidation. The card would allow telecom network operators to make more efficient use of their core network bandwidth using a Circuit Emulation Service (CES) to transport E1 TDM traffic.

The technical complexity of moving access networks into the 21st century and scope of developing a replacement network requires enormous investment of engineering resources in a coherent and effective manner. Fujitsu Telecommunications, a major telecoms equipment manufacturer, recognised Asidua as having this capability and expertise to deliver a cost effective and quality solution to meet aggressive time to market demands.
