Studies
I joined Asidua back in August 2005 after finishing a BSc. Honours degree in Computer Science. It wasn’t too daunting starting my first ‘proper job’ since I’d spent a placement year with Asidua and already got to know my colleagues.

Everyone had been so nice and I had enjoyed the work so much that I decided to come back permanently!

Work in Asidua
The first project I worked on at Asidua was Java based and I was also involved in scripting with JUnit so that testing could be automated. I then briefly worked on another project using Weblogic and Java. “The project I am presently working on uses MS.NET technologies, SQLServer and XML related technologies. I am doing development work in C# and ASP.NET”

Training at Asidua
When you start as a Graduate Engineer with Asidua you have a short Induction Course followed by a more formal Graduate Training Programme that teaches you valuable ‘soft skills’ such as communications and time-management. The same programme involves a residential to improve team-building skills, which is educational, great fun and a brilliant way to meet the other new-start graduates in Asidua.

Fun at Asidua
Asidua have flexible working hours — you can start at a time that suits you as long as you’re there during ‘core hours’ and do your week's work.  Lunchtime is not at a set time either.
Asidua has Breakfast Mornings for staff twice a month and hosts regular social events — paint-balling and a summer barbeque and such. There’s even Ladies 5-A-Side football.

Final Thought
I like working at Asidua because the work is interesting and challenging and also because the work environment is great.

Studies
I graduated from the University Of Ulster Coleraine in July 2006 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Computing Science and a Diploma in Industrial Studies. After two relaxing weeks in the sun I started work in Asidua, Belfast.

Asidua's friendly atmosphere helped calm the nerves of starting a new job for me and the other graduates starting in the same position.

Work in Asidua
During my time in Asidua, I have been on a product development team working with Microsoft ASP.Net, C# and Biz Talk Server 2006.  Training courses and books were provided to cover any gaps in experience in these areas. Before joining Asidua, my experience had been in Microsoft .Net Frameworks and unlike many other firms, Asidua quickly embraced and enhanced my experience without trying to force me down other technology routes. The work is challenging and interesting and plenty of guidance is available from the more senior members of staff who always find the time to lend a hand.

Training at Asidua
Without doubt, the best training at Asidua is the 'hands on' help and guidance  given by the senior members of staff. The Graduate Training Programme is also extremely useful, as it concentrates on soft skills and communications. The Graduate Training Programme also involves a number of Modules, including a trip away from the office with various team building exercises during the day followed by the traditional night out with fellow Graduates.

Fun at Asidua
On the social scene, there is plenty going on in Asidua with regular nights out among graduates and an official company night out on the first Friday of every month, or 'First Friday Drinks' as it's referred to internally. The sports and social club in Asidua is responsible for organizing events such as bowling nights and trips to the theatre. Personally I am a keen footballer and within the company we organize 5-side football every week, and I think this is another great way of getting to know people in the company.

Final Thought
Asidua is a company that provides a good balance between work and social life. They provide challenges and the appropriate level of training and guidance to succeed. I have learned at a rapid pace since joining the company and have enjoyed it very much so far.
